WEEK END ROUND UP: 4/5 - 4/11 April 11 2014, 0 Comments

  • SPIN debuted “Televan,” the new single of Ed Schrader’s Music Beat’s Party Jail (out 5/20) and holy shit you guys really dug it. Up to 150K plays and counting! Big ups to SPIN, Stereogum, Future Islands, Dan Deacon, and everyone else who shared it!
  • Especially to The Chicago Reader, who made “Televan” their 12 O’Clock Track and called it “demented surf-rock tune.” That’s pretty badass!
  • VICE/NOISEY debuted “Take It Back,” the first single off Music Band’s tape for the Infinity Cat Cassette Series. They called it “catchy lo-fi debauchery” because they gET IT. Hear it here, order it there.
  • The power of Music Band knows no bounds of language nor geography. We can tell because their single also got picked up by Spain’s Musica Cronica. Ole!
  • Actually, geography ain’t shit to Infinity Cat bands. Our favorite hardcore teen punx JAWWS are playing Hymen House on Wednesday with two UK HC bands, Violent Reaction and The Flex. DOO IT.
  • The Tennessean just posted a feature about Diarrhea Planet & the story behind their name, so I guess #dadslovediarrheaplanet is gonna be a thing now
  • We went to Fond Object for Denney and the Jet’s release show on Tuesday and we had so much fun that we’re gonna hang with them for Record Store Day too! If you come visit us (or our friends at Grimey’s or The Groove), you can grab one of those super-sold-out DP 7” Packs. Seriously, we saved 30 extra for you Nashvillians and once they’re gone, THEY. ARE. GONE.

  • Speaking of 7 inches, Peach Kelli Pop recorded “Do The Eggroll” in Japanese. It’s called “Eggu-roru wo shine sai” and it is the CUTEST DANG THING.
  • JUICEBOXXX is taking over the US in May for the BUSINESS AS USUAL TOUR. Check the dates here and remember #NEVERSURRENDERFOREVER
  • ESMB just has a few US dates left on their tour with Future Islands. If we haven’t convinced you to check em out, read this review by KEXP where they say the Beat “tore the head off off anyone in the crowd that wasn’t ready for the rock and roll explosion to come.” Yeah, that’s what we thought. Tix here.
  • With Manchester TN so close, you didn’t really think DP wasn’t gonna play Bonnaroo, right? Club stage, baby, just a few feet from OutKast.
  • SHOWS YOU’LL CATCH US AT THIS WEEK: Wrenne and I are heading to my and Casey’s hometown of Cincinnati for a free DP show at Baba Budan’s. Mmmm... friends, family, chili! But don’t worry, we’ll be back in time to catch Music Band and No Regrets Coyote at Coyote Ranch! BONUS: they're opening for Dry Feet, Perry Shall's surf punk band!
  • We’ll leave you with two things. 1) Friendly reminder that DP got in the studio this week and JTB got out of it. 2) this Original Comic by Casey. D'awwwwwww.
