WEEK END ROUND UP: 5/16 - 5/23 May 23 2014, 0 Comments

  • Party Jail, the new album by Ed Schrader’s Music Beat is OUT. NOW. RIGHT NOW. Stream the whole thing over at SPIN, then treat yrself to some milky white vinyl right over here. We’ve heard that it’s “intoxicating,” “a brassy adventure in minimalism,” and “a bit like scarfing a box of delicious if questionably flavored chocolates.” Rad.
  • Ya boi PUJOL released his new album Kludge on Saddle Creek this week. Hop over to their website & snag a copy cuz it is absolutely killer. Particularly the slowed down version of “Butterfly Knife.”
  • Got the covers for Hits from the Streets, Vol 2 in and they are ridiculously amazing. 7" out on 7/1 & we CANNOT WAIT.
  • Miss DP at Hangout Fest? No worries— MTV’s got yr back with their recap and videos. Check out three songs from the beach and hey! Wait a second… is that a 467 Surf and Gun Club shirt we see Jordan sporting??
  • While you’re watching videos, make sure to watch Ed Schrader’s Music Beat’s new video for “Laughing.” Accurate name cuz it’s one of the funniest things we’ve ever seen, from the dating profiles to the way the gimps walk. Yeah. We said what we said. Pop on over to Stereogum or check it out below.

  • We just gave Music Band a buncha cassettes to take on the road. They’re headed to Birmingham this weekend for Happenin Fest with JEFF, Natural Child, & Jacuzzi Boys, then taking off across north. Peep those dates & tix here.
  • Our buddy Thomas got profiled in the Nashville Scene this week. You might know him as the man behind Rhed Rholl Recordings, but you oughta get to know him better by reading this article.
  • We made new friends this week! Their names are Eric Reidy & Josh Fine and they’re two journalists working on a project on musical and cultural freedom in the US and Middle East. Pretty dope stuff. Check em out here & if you’re in a band or make art, hit em up for an interview.
  • Big ups to Travis, James, & Erin for painting us some killer fan art. At 5 years old, James is one of our youngest fans & we’re so stoked to hear that “Heavy Days” is his favorite song. See him below in all his JEFF glory! Whatta kid!!!
  • SHOWS YOU’LL CATCH US AT: Eh, this weekend’s kinda busy. Maybe we’ll catch a show on Monday…
