WEEK END ROUND UP: 6/21 - 6/27 June 27 2014, 0 Comments

  • FAN OF THE WEEK goes to Austin Burkey, this crazy kid in the Infinity Cat t-shirt who truly inspired us in the Bonnaroo mosh. WHATTA CHAMP!! Spy on some more DP shenanigans from Gov’s Ball to Bonnaroo (shot by Wrenne Evans) over at Impose Magazine.
  • And if you missed the double bill the first time around do not despair… Diarrhea Planet & Those Darlins are once again hitting the highways for a co-headlining tour this summer!! Snag those dates & tix right here.
  • While you’re grabbing show tix, check the new Ed Schrader’s Music Beat dates. These road warriors are heading out on a solo tour followed by a late summer tour with Chain and the Gang. We’re looking at not one but TWO Nashville shows & you bet yr bottom dollar we’ll be at both!!
  • Radio K up in Minnesota dug the new ESMB record so much, they made it the Weekly Spotlight! They said “Schrader’s lyrics are also worth paying attention to, often imagining surrealistic images that would be right at home in a Salvador Dali painting.” Don’t believe em? Download a free track here.
  • Speaking of radio, CMJ called PUJOL’s “Circles” one of the best songs of 2014 (so far). We think come December, they’ll say it’s one of the best songs of the whole year! Can’t top the Kludge!!
  • SPIN dropped the new GUERILLA TOSS single last night. They called them “Most Likely to Be Heard in a Dark Underground Warehouse With Flashing Technicolor Lights, Lots of Drugs, and Hip, Half-Naked Youths” and like, we can’t really disagree with that. Peep the brain-melting “Cookie” below or on SPIN, Stereogum, and/or Consequence of Sound.

  • It ain’t Throwback Thursday but we got a real BLAST FROM THE PAST ON OUR HANDS HERE!!! The Nashville Scene polled longtime veterans of the music scene (including our v own Bob the Fatherhood) to see what their favorite Nashville songs are. Lots of love for the long-defunct but always inspiring MEEMAW and be your own Pet! See what they had to say here.
  • While we’re talking polllllllls, there’s still time to rock the vote MTV style!! Jump over to The Deli & punch the chad for Jawws for “Artist of the Month,” you punk patriots you.
  • There’s only 3 days left for you to preorder Hits from the Streets & grab that PEACE LOVE INFINITY CAT bumper sticker. Do not miss out. Do not miss out. Do not miss out.
  • Do not miss out on BREAST MASSAGE either. We put out their Soiled Fantasies LP on Wednesday and they’re flyyyyyying off the shelves. No kiddin! We’ve only got like half of em left! So grab your copy NOW if you wanna get punched in the face with some serious sludge. Don’t say we didn’t warn ya!
  • We’ve been crushin hard on Frontier Psychiatrist for a while now, but they really outdid themselves with this ESMB interview AND this ESMB/Herzog/Ego show on Saturday. Swoooooooooon!
  • SHOWS YOU’LL CATCH US AT: Monday. 9 PM. Stone Fox. 5 buckeroonieloonieloos. A no brainer of a line-up. We’re talking a super summer Infinity Cat release show party featuring Ed Schrader’s Music Beat (Party Jail), Music Band (Cassette Series), and Jawws (Hits from the Streets) and I don’t know, maybe some special surprises… be there or be square, be there n be ours <3 <3 <3
